About quippd

quippd is a collaboratively edited social news site. Users on quippd can post and edit news stories, collaboratively adding context and information. Users aren’t just sharing links, they are sharing stories.

quippd was started by two friends who met at work a few years ago. We’re Asif Youssuff and Robert Stockdale, and we both work in the IT sector.

Development started in May of 2009, and currently, we are in a beta stage. We’re looking to build a great community here, so join us and help shape the future of news!

For more information about the site, check out the introduction: what is quippd all about?

Technical Details

The site is developed in the Catalyst framework, using Git for version control, with data stored in a MySQL database. We use Ubuntu for development, and test on Mac and Windows. We support Markdown and Smartypants formatting, and users can use their Gravatars here.
